Where to Start ….The Process of Elimination

The Algarve is approximately 140 kms from Sagres in the west to Vila Real St Antonio in the east and about 55 kms from the coast inland to the border of the Alentejo.  The total area is relatively small until you start searching for a holiday villa, retirement home or a property to renovate.  The thing to do is to narrow your search down by eliminating areas that are not suitable.  This is relatively easy if you have spent time here touring around extensively as you will have by then probably decided the areas in which you wish to purchase.

Whether you are here for the first time or have only visited a few times it would be better to spend some time driving around the areas.  If you prefer the flatter, drier areas then the Eastern Algarve, Tavira, Loule, Sao Bras would probably suit you or if you prefer the greener areas then the Upper Algarve, Monchique, Marmelete and Alferce is suitable.  If you are looking for night-life and bars then Portimao, Carvoeiro, Vilamoura and Albufeira is suitable.  Whatever your preference touring around will enable you to circle you best loved area on the map before you even begin your search.
